Last year we bought 40 cows and gave to 40 women. After about 15 month we tried to sell few of them. I want to give you an idea how it works: Last week we sold one. This particular cow we bought 9,000 tk (eq. AU $ 200 or US $ 130). We sold it for 26,000 tk (AU 600, US $ 370). We got profit 17, 000 tk (AU 370, US $ 240). Food and other expenditure was 3,000 tk. We gave her 7000 tk as profit. It is a huge amount in Bangladeshi currency for her as she has never been able to have such amount of money together as they only earn hand to mouth, not even enough to eat two times a day. Soon we will buy another cow for her. As organization we also received 7000 tk profit which we will invest again. Such record breaking profit may not appear in every cow but I was really surprised here with happiness. It is working.
